Pawan Kalyan’s latest film, They Call Him OG, experienced a decline in box office revenue on its ninth day as it entered the second week, facing competition from recent hits including Kantara: A Legend Chapter-1 and Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari.
Industry tracking platform Sacnilk reported that on Friday, the film earned Rs 4.52 crore net in India, reflecting a 41.3% drop from the previous day’s collections. The domestic net total of They Call Him OG has now reached Rs 173.82 crore.
Produced by DVV Danayya and Kalyan Dasari under DVV Entertainment, the film opened nationwide on September 25 and saw strong initial attendance. Fans flocked to early shows and special screenings, generating significant social media buzz. The movie registered the highest opening day of Pawan Kalyan’s career, earning Rs 63.75 crore on the first day. Its first-week domestic total stood at Rs 169.3 crore.
The film rapidly approached the Rs 200 crore mark within days, marking a major success in Tollywood’s 2025 calendar. Industry analysts suggest that steady collections in the upcoming week could see They Call Him OG rank among the top-grossing Telugu films of the year.
On the international front, the film has performed strongly, grossing Rs 265.40 crore worldwide in eight days. Overseas revenue accounts for approximately Rs 63 crore, indicating Pawan Kalyan’s expanding fanbase abroad. Trade analyst Sumit Kadel described the film as a “major hit,” citing its strong global reception.
Despite the drop in earnings, the film maintained a reasonable theatre turnout on October 3. The Telugu version recorded an occupancy rate of 35.49%, with evening shows drawing the largest audiences.
They Call Him OG features Pawan Kalyan in the lead role of Ojas Gambheera. Bollywood actor Emraan Hashmi makes his Telugu debut as the antagonist Omi Bhau. The ensemble cast includes Priyanka Mohan, Prakash Raj, Arjun Das, Sriya Reddy, Shaam, Harish Uthaman, Rahul Ravindran, and a cameo by Jackie Shroff. Pawan Kalyan recently confirmed plans for both a prequel and a sequel to expand the OG storyline.
The film now faces strong competition from Kantara: Chapter 1, which grossed Rs 61.85 crore on opening day and Rs 45 crore on its first Friday, rapidly surpassing the Rs 100 crore mark. Experts note that They Call Him OG will need consistent performance in the coming days to reach Rs 200 crore net domestically and move closer to a projected Rs 300 crore global total.
